Not so. Here's the problem:
- Too many women having children without getting married first.
- Too many children raised by essentially no one.
- You can't really be a complete parent to a child unless the father and mother are married and committed to each other as to how they will go about raising that child.

In their late teens and early 20's, my siblings had this time where they blamed my parents for all of their failings. Bad teeth, being poor, etc. And then the late 20's came around and all of a sudden, mom and dad were just doing their best with 5 kids on two low income jobs. The time to complain was over and the lightbulb came on.... they were responsible for how life played out. Result.. sister is an administrator at an assisted living home and brother is lead mechanic for the highway district. Growing up poor sucked and can't say that I always embraced it but it gives one such a different perspective on life afterwards.
