Drug Epidemic - Something I Just Don't Understand...

How does someone who has never done drugs decide to start doing drugs? Any 8-year old kid can look around and see how pathetic a drug addict's life is. Perhaps the kid has experienced abuse at the hands of drug addicts. You would think he would run away from this real-life horror like someone would run from a burning building.
The signs are everywhere that drugs, any drugs, make it all that more likely that YOUR LIFE WILL BE F-ED UP. So, why even try it? Why smoke tobacco or marijuana? All of this stuff, alcohol included, tastes bad and makes you sick when you first try it. It's like God told Satan "Ok, you can tempt mankind with your chemicals, but the first time someone tries one of them, it has to make them sick or taste like crap".
Mankind is screwed if a large segment of us can't perpetually stay away from all recreational chemicals. The chemists, with the help of AI, will make chemicals that can get you higher than ever before and even sustain the high. But, they will still end up killing you all the same. The only difference will be this next round of chemicals will get the users hopelessly addicted after trying it just once.

Animals in the wild will consume things for the purpose of getting high. Cocaine was a registered brand name by Parke Davis.
Heroin was marketed mail order as the Sedative for Coughs.
Opium was used for Baby Soothing Syrup (which I suppose really worked.

Then the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 was passed by those stick in the mud Republicans.

No drug human chemical-fiends consume is "grown in the wild". I find it odd and perplexing that people who do not trust government as having their best interests in mind, worshipingly absorb anything the dope dealers, dope growers and dope manufactures tell them. But, you know, I shouldn't find this odd and perplexing, should I. These minds have been corrupted by the ingestion of mind-altering and addictive chemicals. The thoughts and views of such people should be readily dismissed as garbled trash.

But of the 100,000 dead from overdoses each year, most seem to be from little Trumpvilles where every home has a welded metal sculpture of Jesus and Trump signs.
Trumpies talk nasty, they drink so much beer when they quit drinking a brand it nearly goes bust, and they fear trannies are going to persuade large numbers of teenage boys to have their manhoods chopped off.
But the prescription drug and fentanyl crisis is killing almost as many Republicans as their refusal to take their shots did.
Republicans love their families. Each overdose is a horrible human tragedy.
Why don’t they just say no, the first time some MAGA offers another MAGA over the counter opioids or fentanyl?
I wish we could persuade them to stay alive, you know?
