When I said Oppenheimer's efforts were wasted on a nation of pacifists, I was referring to the United States, not Japan.  We allowed enemy nations like China get away with grabbing land in Korea, Vietnam, other areas around China and the China sea without kicking them in the nuts like we did to Japan, not once, but twice.  The very minute we discovered that the Chinese were behind the Korean conflict, we should have nuked them.

Gotcha. Problem is Russia and China had the bomb by the time Korea kicked off. Probably better to get it out of the system at that point rather than now....over defense of a corrupt kleptocracy in Ukraine.

Russia did.  China did not.  And, china had no method of delivery.

Gross but they had a delivery method. Charge en maase with a tac nuke. Russia had them and would have loaned a few smaller tactical devices to them in Korea if asked.

Better to have the nuke war in the '50's and be done with it, rather than have it now.  We coulda and shoulda.
