Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell suddenly froze while talking and had to be escorted away from the podium during his press conference on Wednesday. The 81-year-old sparked concerns as he appeared unable to complete his sentence while surrounded by his colleagues.
It comes months after he was released from hospital after he fell during dinner in Washington D.C. McConnell was addressing reporters when he abruptly took a long pause. His colleague, Republican Senator John Thune, then helped McConnell steady himself and move him away from the podium.

Old people like him and others in the Senate impact our democracy.
Is Nikki Haley right?

McConnell is a power hungry pol who has hardly done a decent job of actually running the country. Mostly, he is just stubborn. He knows Trump is an incompetent criminal who he finds useful only because he has a very dedicated core support within the GOP that he has turned into a cult. A true patriot would have voted to convict and remove Trump the first chance he had.

Really? So a company can walk into an office and tell an employee, "Today is your 75th birthday, get the **** out...you're too old...you're fired"? Think you can win that argument in court? Discrimination based on age is against the law. And before you say people that old are retired from work, our company has two over 75 working every day right now.golfboy » 26 Jul 2023, 7:28 pm » wrote: ↑ Not true.
The Party can set up any rule it wants. If they make a rule that you can't run for President as a representative of their party if you are over 75, that doesn't prevent that 76 year old from running as an independent or from another party.

Think people are going to keep giving to the party if you have a rule that goes against the Constitution?
If Biden cannot perform his duties, the cabinet can act in accordance with the 25th Amendment, and, if they don't, the voters can certainly act in November of 2024. I personally hope that Biden does not run in 2024, but if I had to choose between Biden and Trump, I would choose Biden's diminished capacity surrounded by competent advisors over evil incarnate... without batting an eye.Vegas » 26 Jul 2023, 9:14 pm » wrote: ↑ I would love to believe that you would apply this to Biden also.
