Not to be a boomer or sound old but when I talk about this stuff with coworkers.. they have no idea what I am talking about. When something around their house breaks.. they just pay someone else to do it and then stand by and bitch. I will admit that somethings are above my grade or take too much time but most things.. I like fixing/repairing stuff. Latest project was replacing the water heater with a tankless.

That's me_ but I have the woman excuse!
altho I did try my hand at plumbing. Most of it worked out pretty well because those parts were new.
 except where the new pvc- went into an old metal pipe.  50 years old. Now I bail the leak? and it stinks!          phew.

And yes you do... how do I know? You cared enough to respond. And you think that elected officials read this forum? I work with politicians and guess what? They 100% do not read this forum or others like it. They do not even know that you exist let alone read your stuff.

And I must say that I am getting tired of all this "deep state" nonsense. When MAGAts use that term, they are just trying to smear the good reputations of professional career public servants who have chosen a life of service to their country over a life of service to themselves and their own best interests. Without the institutional memory that the standing career bureaucracy brings to all government departments, those organizations - with their hordes of continuously rotating political sycophant appointees in lieu of that corps of professionals  - would be ineffectively forced to continuously reinvent the wheel.

I chose a life of military service because I was - and remain - powerfully patriotic, and willingly - gladly - forewent the much more lucrative world of private business that many of my classmates were lured into after their five years of obligated service. I loved serving my country and doing a good job on behalf of its citizens.

Thousands of professionals in all of the departments in the Executive Branch are similarly motivated.
