He conspired with six others to peacefully overturn an election.
and he did not try and overturn anything he wanted it investigated just like most reasonable people did ....

No, what Trump did was ignore the pleas of all his family and his inner circle to step down, and instead pursued a conspiracy to have seven state Republican Party meetings of fake electors. The plotters even included New Mexico where Trump had no chance whatsoever of claiming victory. He lost New Mexico by 11 points.
He’s charged with that conspiracy, not incitement to riot.
