He might have a surge; and might win the Republican primary, but he has the same issue that caused Romney to lose the general election: the White Evangelicals. Romney had everything that they wanted, except for one thing; he was Mormon. He was a devoted husband and father, and said everything that they wanted, but they didn't turn up on election day because he was Mormon.

Ramswamy is a practicing Hindu, which means the Evangelicals won't vote for him. He is not White, which means the White Supremacists won't vote for him. They won't vote for a Democrat, but they won't vote for Ramswamy.

There is no way that he can win without those two factions of the Republican Party.

He might have a future, but it isn't going to happen until a lot of the older generation of Republicans is gone. 10-15 years from now there might be a chance for a Republican Hindu candidate, but not now.

Yes, he could win the primary, but the hardcore MAGA crowd, the Evangelicals, and the White Supremacists won't show up at the polls at the general election.  Since a lot of the states are "swing states", any group of Republicans not showing up is a win for the Dems.

I, personally, don't have a problem with either his skin color or religion, but I have a big problem with his political beliefs.  He might attract some of the Independents, who would swing back if Trump was not the nominee, but it would not make up for all Trumpists who won't show up for any non Trump candidate.
