Anyone for which confirmation cannot be produced they have been continuously making payments for the required 20-25 years should not have their remaining debt forgiven. I completely support correcting prior record keeping deficiencies and forgiving those who did. The individual met all the mandated requirements for forgiveness and should not be punished because some career lackey didn't do their job correctly. Everyone else can pound sand and pay their debts.
You’ve hit on something I’ve discussed since I went to college in 1976, and after a year tried getting student aid.ConsRule » 07 Aug 2023, 12:59 pm » wrote: ↑ 90% of what I learned in college are things I never used. Same for my son who is a CFO for a large company. Same is true for a lot of "real" degree programs. However, you cannot get a job in many professions without a college degree...and many of those require an advanced degree.
Would you prefer those people being forced to fend for themselves and have all of society (rather than only the elitist) turn their back on them? Social work is an area I could never handle...far too often they encounter people who are at their rock bottom (admittedly often of their own accord) and/or deal with those who have been abused by others. If I had to work in that field...I would probably end up killing someone, especially if they abused a baby.
And here lies the most obvious problem...as to why it costs so much to acquire a marketable skill.ConsRule » 07 Aug 2023, 12:59 pm » wrote: ↑ 90% of what I learned in college are things I never used.
Why? Because banks matter in a crony-capitalist country.GHETTOBLASTER » 07 Aug 2023, 1:42 pm » wrote: ↑ And here lies the most obvious problem...as to why it costs so much to acquire a marketable skill.

We never see any discussion about how schools could offer low cost, "NO FRILLS Curriculum" with all time and energy spent studying only what needs to be learned.Sumela » 07 Aug 2023, 1:44 pm » wrote: ↑ Why? Because banks matter in a crony-capitalist country.
And you? You dont mean jack **** other than as a debtor.
Yup, all that is true.GHETTOBLASTER » 07 Aug 2023, 2:10 pm » wrote: ↑ We never see any discussion about how schools could offer low cost, "NO FRILLS Curriculum" with all time and energy spent studying only what needs to be learned.
The rebuttal from the Libtard Camp when I have brought this up is always.."Well we feel the students would be missing out on [what we feel is] A WELL ROUNDED EDUCATION.
By "well rounded" what they really mean are worthless classes [**** like Anasazi Mythology, Gender Studies, Diversity 101] that are being taught by their equally worthless Libtard Cronies.
I watched my mother on a bench at shopping malls countless times when I was young, lecturing some kid and the kids mother about sending that kid to college.impartialobserver » 07 Aug 2023, 2:20 pm » wrote: ↑ When it comes time for my kids to enter college, I will definitely attempt to steer them towards degree programs that have better employment prospects. If you are interested in music theory... take a few classes, read books on it, do online research, play an instrument on the side, etc. Does not mean that you have to get the degree and most likely all of the debt that comes with it. Also, if they are unsure about a major then take the community college route and that gives you time to firm up your interests and just to live a bit. At age 20.. I was not interested in Economics. After having done years of manual labor, my perspective changed.
What **** difference does that make?
I may want to ax her out

I’d walk up and she’d say there is my only child, and he’s borrowed all the money I can’t afford to give him at 7% interest and he’ll pay that off in no time after he graduates.
My mother was a Republican then but she didn’t die a Republican.
The last straw was one of her own former students asking her why since Barack Obama was born in Kenya, could he possibly become President,
She thought Obama being admitted to Columbia University was proof America is the best nation under the sun.
What I hate is forty years ago, Republicans were so decent, corny and square.
I'm not **** anyone over bruce...they made the choices, signed on the dotted line and now they have to pull up their panties, act as responsible adults and pay their debts off...it's not **** rocket science...Bruce » 07 Aug 2023, 12:41 pm » wrote: ↑ Keep right on convincing that boy you are bending over a table and **** out of a Joe Biden loan forgiveness program he’s announced to his parents and all his family and friends he’s eligible for, it’s so we can pay off the 32 trillion dollar debt we can’t afford to help him out.
You might try kissing him, too.
Oh, and ask his girlfriend what she thinks about planned parenthood, while you are at it.
It’s a known fact young women who don’t like **** men don’t need any birth control or abortions.
Of she keeps her legs closed, why should she care about a abortions and planned parenthood and all that stuff?
I carried a sign for Ronald Reagan in 1980.ROG62 » 08 Aug 2023, 5:59 am » wrote: ↑ I'm not **** anyone over bruce...they made the choices, signed on the dotted line and now they have to pull up their panties, act as responsible adults and pay their debts off...it's not **** rocket science...

I carried it for a corny, decent, square old man, and Uncle Joe reminds me a lot of Reagan.
Republicans in 1980 supported abortion as a way to reduce poverty and pay fewer welfare benefits.
We didn’t make up a single, solitary lie to tell bigots, racists, white nationalists, Jew haters and Russian lovers they would have loved hearing.
We loved to hear Ronnie tell us America was the shiny city on the hill and America’s last, best hope for all mankind.
And Reagan grew up with a Campbellite mother rocking his cradle.
He was the last Republican President who could listen to Tramp on the Street, and understand the meaning of the song.

These new Republicans are so incredibly nasty, hateful and vile, you know?
This nation has borrowed 32 trillion for the rich men who live in gilded towers and begrudge a young man who’s went off to college a few thousand dollars of student loan relief, that Ronald Reagan set up, in 1981
I didn’t qualify for a student loan until Ronald Reagan reformed the program.
Mama drove over to Hermitage with me to co sign or pledge the farm, and the Bank of Hermitage loaned me the money instead, on my signature alone, backed by Ronald Reagan.
Some days I can barely stand it, what became of the Republican Party.
There was a day we hated Trumps and bigots and white nationalists and Russia lovers and Jew haters, and liked college boys, you know?
Interestingly, I was a staunch democrat when they were the "DFL" aka Democratic-Farmer-Labor-Party...they went off the reservation when Ronnie was president...what bothered me the most and tipping the scales for me was that with every term when they had a surplus, they couldn't spend it fast enough...that's when the **** started to flow...now it's on steroids with no surplus in sight...Bruce » 08 Aug 2023, 7:19 am » wrote: ↑ I carried a sign for Ronald Reagan in 1980.
