All of my kids went to Catholic School, all the while I had the privilege of paying school taxes at the same time......didn't see too many priests abusing kids or *** abusing anyone either.Mrkelly » 14 Aug 2023, 5:11 pm » wrote: ↑ where they can be molested by priests

As usual you have it backasswards, the decline in educational quality can be directly linked to the integration of public schools.razoo » 14 Aug 2023, 5:26 pm » wrote: ↑ Boycotting and defunding public education brings us back to the dumbing down policy of the Reagan/Bush era who put this crap on the table.
Conservative Right Wing Fascist ALEC Tea Party thinkers are NOT fiscal conservative by any means only conservative narrow minded individuals who believe they are morally superior to all others on the planet which of course is a lie aka Pretend!!!. Very BIG government indeed.
Screwing with public education and screwing with libraries and choosing which books OUR children should read prevents academic growth and academic mind expansion which on the long term will stifle the young thinkers from asking "authorities" too many questions only hoping they will accept what they are told. Very Fascist Nazi like.
We should never want our children to stop challenging the government aka "Always Question Authority" YES!

Yes tax dollars will still be collected to fund this scam on taxpayers.

My mother had very strong thoughts about that problem.ConsRule » 14 Aug 2023, 12:22 pm » wrote: ↑ In my opinion...the biggest problem with public schools is the lack or parental involvement.

She was an excellent school teacher with over forty years experience.
Her response to the observation parents needed to be more involved was always the same.
How involved with a plumber do those same parents need to be, other than opening the door?.
I’ve never had any complaints with Catholic, Lutheran , Amish, or Mennonite schools whatsoever.RebelGator » 14 Aug 2023, 5:38 pm » wrote: ↑ All of my kids went to Catholic School, all the while I had the privilege of paying school taxes at the same time......didn't see too many priests abusing kids or *** abusing anyone either.
Our daughter-in-law taught in both public and private schools until she quit to become a stay at home mom (she is now home schooling). She pointed to "meet the teacher nights"...at the public school, she was lucky to have three parents show up...at the private school, she was there for four hours meeting with at least one parent (and for most, both parents) for every student she had.Bruce » 14 Aug 2023, 6:01 pm » wrote: ↑ My mother had very strong thoughts about that problem.

We homeschooled our children though we live in a school district that was listed among top 10 in the USA. We also live in a college town. We also created a communication network between 11 home school families, local school district and the university.Bruce » 14 Aug 2023, 6:01 pm » wrote: ↑ My mother had very strong thoughts about that problem.

Good question. The answer is that if you're going to hire a plumber, mechanic, roofer or just about anything else you had better educate yourself on the subject or you WILL get screwed. I always thought my children were more important than my house or car so my answer would be that parents should be VERY involved.Bruce » 14 Aug 2023, 6:01 pm » wrote: ↑ My mother had very strong thoughts about that problem.
