Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys crossed over to hippy reefer smokin fans who loved that dancing music.
Hell Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys could have played Woodstock with the Grateful Dead. As a matter of fact when I was a bit younger country western was part of the Top 40 which was a mix of Patsy Cline, Ferlin Husky, Buddy Holly/Crickets, Fats Domino, Conway Twitty, Roy Orbison, Dolly Parton then along came Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Waylon and Willie .......... how about that Eric Clapton.
Watch out cowboys music has been bringing people together for a few decades you don't own country music .......... rock n roll is a blend of country, blues, bluegrass and folk. Then Jimi, Jefferson Airplane, Beatles, Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary and so many others all a result of each other.

I really should change that name to X-Fuelman. Fuelman as in fuel tanker driver, retired 3 years come this January. I didn't quite make it to Oil Executive but did get the pleasure of working for Mario Andretti my last few years. It's rare to get to drive new $300k KW's with new tanks. Quite the rigs. I wouldn't really call myself a truck driver as I don't know squat about trucks but I can run with any seasoned professional driver. Managed to fake it for 17 years.
The way this ended up, the Oil Executive will actually be cutting me a check for the rest of my life. Royalties on oil, nat gas, wind turbines, transmission lines, and a possibility of a 140 acre solar farm in the near future. Not bad for a graduate from stoner high.
Bruce has some pretty good stories, but he couldn't dream this up in a million years, bible stuff you know.
The only error in being a longtime Republican was I believed the ****!

I got that off the radio in School Bus 6.
I loved Charlie Rich. Everybody else loved him, too.
But Charlie Rich got rich doing cross over, better than anyone else in the middle 70s.
Then when Wille released Red Headed Stranger in 1975 you did cross over or you didn’t get played on country radio. It was a money thing.
By 1979 George Jones was so broke he had to have a special guests album. The biggest hit was with Elvis Costello.

I not only listen to contemporary country and old country, but I've learned about it. And I don't mean PBS specials. I mean primary source documents and original artifacts such as those at the Jimmie Rodgers museum.
