My Amish friend Henry is by far the happiest man I know. He does not read newspapers or watch television or listen to the radio and has no computer and doesn’t have an electric line to his beautiful new home with a pretty wife and four healthy kids.
Each Sunday morning one of his community reads a gospel story aloud and they eat and drink tea and have a wonderful church service in alternating homes.
They don’t vote. They don’t drive motor vehicles, not even tractors. Since they don’t register they never have jury duty.
Politics is a way for us to be divided against each other.
But if we don’t argue, who’ll build Henry’s roads and protect Henry’s family from evil?
