The cop saved the kid from a life of suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome and the car wasn't wrecked... it needs a windshield, but it wasn't wrecked.

Don't try to run over police officers. Should have followed instructions and gotten her misdemeanor shoplifting ticket.

If the officer has fired a warning shot, the woman would likely have complied.
It is pretty stupid to get in front of a running car, even if one is a cop.
This will not have a good result for the officer, his family, or the family of the dead woman.

The woman did not deserve the death penalty. Not for stealing booze nor for refusal to obey the cop. She acted stupidly. But the cop killed her, and was not in any real danger.
