And, that is why I don't have an EV and won't be getting one any time soon. When they are at least as good as gas powered vehicles and cost the same or less, I'll buy one. Sort of like I did with flat-screen TV's a long time ago. When the US Secretary of Energy and her team embarked on a road trip to promote electric vehicles, they ran into a predictable yet frustrating obstacle: a lack of electric vehicle chargers.
Indeed, there are only about three electric vehicle charging ports for every 10,000 people in the United States, Insider reported in April.
The scarcity of chargers was such an issue for Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and her team that the police got involved at one point, NPR reported.
The caravan of electric vehicles heading from Charlotte to Memphis over the course of four days hit a snag in Grovestown, Georgia. The group was planning a quick charge when they realized there wouldn't be enough electric vehicle chargers to go around since one was broken and the others were in use, NPR reported.
So an employee from the Department of Energy tried to save one of the spots using a gas-powered car.
It was a sweltering day and the move didn't go over well with a family that was also waiting for a charging spot. The situation escalated to the point that the family, driving with a baby in their car, called the police, who didn't have the authority to act because blocking an EV charging spot with a gas-power car isn't illegal in Georgia, NPR reported.
While Granholm and her team worked to smooth things over, ultimately ceding a spot to the family and relegating some of their own vehicles to slower charging ports, the incident drew attention to the desperate need for improved EV infrastructure.
"It's just par for the course," a bystander driving an electric BMW told NPR. "They'll get it together at some point."

I didn't mean to single you out, you just happened to start an EV thread. It was a general statement about all the angst over EV's and the price of one being way over the capability of most households hence the negative view points. Tesla is not losing money, but it is barely making any money. It makes only $3.50/share and the price of the stock is $250. Let's say you have $1,000,000 to invest in a business. You buy a company with your $1,000,000 that makes cleaning solutions. It pays you $300/week as a return on your investment. Now, you tell me, would you spend a million dollars just to make $300/week? I own my gas car! Why would i purchase an EV for a payment of 500 a month??? I could buy a ton of gas for an extra 20 bucks a week. When the price is high. Do you see the INSANITY Skans?

If you buy a ten year old used Tesla your neighbors will think you bought a brand new Tesla. The style hardly changes.

Tesla Has a Goal of 20 Million Vehicles Per YearTesla made 35,000 cars in 2014. It has ambitious plans to get to 20 million vehicles by the year-end of 2030. That is a 571 times increase in vehicle production in 17 years. That is an unreal feat if Tesla achieves that. Even at a 2 million vehicle per year run rate, if Tesla gets there this year, that is still a 57 times increase in vehicle production in 10 years.Giga Nevada was being built in 2014 and now it is fully functional. Tesla also had a 500,000 vehicle goal by 2020 and that happened with the Model 3 and Model Y. Many were skeptical that Tesla could never achieve that result - because it had never been done before. It's a 14 times increase in 6 years.Applying the same logic today, to get to 20 million vehicles by 2030, you have an 11 times increase in 7 years, with 1.8 million vehicles this year, which I think is conservative. Based on Tesla's growth in the past, I don't see any reason Tesla won't be able to make this ambitious goal. Tesla can go 25% slower and reach this 20 million vehicle per year goal.Some may say that 20 million vehicles is too many. Toyota at their peak made about 10 million.
