I had a ten speed -lime green bike! 
a  basket on the front- with a dog in it.. Was kinda hard to steer!
If it moved- he would ride it. weird dog!!

I had a buddy back when I was about 10 that rigged a car steering wheel from the junkyard onto his bike.

A month ago- I went to google earth- punched in my old address.. I took a virtual ride all around the roads  that i traveled on my bike- it was a fun flashback!... It was like I was there as a kid!

I've done that myself!

What is crazy is that my old neighborhood really hasn't changed that much, at least appearance wise. The business areas on the side of the town I grew up in seem run down and kinda depressed, but the old hood looks like it always did.
 

My old neighborhood.. sadly enough has changed drastically. The old trailer park is gone. It is now a shiny, brand new, 350 unit apartment complex with an adjoining park, workout facility, coffee shop, and such. Garden City, suburb right in the middle of boise, used to be where you went for XXX rated videos, cheap liquor, smoke shops, and getting your motorcycle fixed or gulp! buy a new one. Well.. those days are gone. Expensive real estate in Boise has led folks to come to the once-ghetto suburb. The rough but honest edges are mostly gone. .Replaced by brand new, shiny, perfect, and expensive.

I lived in a high end town on Long Island. I was upset to see my  old  house... beautiful home.
Split level with cedar shingles... Who ever bought it painted them white-
Horrible lookiing!!!

Rest of the neighborhood looked fine. My grandmothers house was still nice!

I was a spoiled kid... with a carpeted playhouse in the back yard. An old walnut tree- and a pool.
my crazy mother decided city life wasn't for her- and she pressured the family to move to Maine.
HUGE MISTAKE!

When life WAS really fun and innocent? it doesn't exist anymore?

Growing up.. I could not wait to get out. I was going to be better than struggling along paycheck to paycheck, living in a trailer, etc. However, there was a simplicity to it all. Everybody had basically the same story and was on equal footing. With this came an earnestness and honesty. Also, because we had all been in that tough spot.. alternator went out on your car at 725 am and you have to be work at 8. Boss does not care and so we would rally around each other. Because we knew that next month.. it was going to be us facing the same dilemma. 

So to answer you.. Yes, I would go back. I would not smoke or drink to excess like most folks did. Things were just a bit more free flowing. First time i went to a boise state football game in 1986... there were folks partying it up on the north side (just on the other side of the fence). Not a single cop or security person made any attempt to rein them in. That would not happen today.

I would like to go back to a time before I was born, and never know about social media, the internet, AI, or even desegregation. Of course, I would have to have my laptop and several solid state drives loaded up with movies, information, youtube videos on how to do stuff and other entertainment.  Oh, and a lifetime supply of solar cells and nickel metal hydride batteries.  Don't forget the antibiotics and advil.  And, lots of pvc and pvc glue.  Safe full of guns and ammo.  Modern toilets. Chainsaw, milling machine and metal lathe.  Tools.  An electric UTV.  And, a Hayes Military Diesel Motorcycle....
