Like most large metropolitan areas, Dallas is a very left leaning progressive city. It's certainly not indicative of the State as a whole.

In Tennessee, metro Nashville is possibly one of the most "progressive" cities in the Country and just elected a far far left progressive mayor this last cycle, but the State as a whole is pretty deep red.

Murfreesboro is still a cross between a college town (MTSU) and a hick town.

It hasn't been infested with the slime from Metro Davidson (Nashville) County yet the best I can tell. Lots of college kids though... but MTSU is a fairly conservative institution.

Williamson County is where it's at, but it's expensive. The low crime and amenities are worth it though. We have the nicest police station I have ever seen anywhere in the county seat of Franklin. Lol

Austin 12/8.  At the Moody Center.  

I saw them once in 2007 and it was simply amazing. It was pretty amazing. They played a ton of stuff from the Songs for the Deaf album.

If I was ever to move to the Eastern part of the US.. upstate NY and Tennessee would be my first picks. After that, maine and very northern Michigan.

Sweet.  I saw them in 2014 at Austin City Limits Fest.  It was good, but at a festival a band plays like 6 songs and done.

The last really good show I saw was The War on Drugs about 18 mos ago. 

Those dudes played for 2 1/2 hours and must've have played like 20 songs.

War on Drugs... you are banished to the corner.... been wanting to see them for a long time but the timing never works out.

  Those fellas are true musicians.

#1 to see on my list is Arctic Monkeys.  Like you with WOD, just has never worked out...for 20 years!

I was finally able to see The Cure this year. Only had to wait 30 years. Some of the folks in the crowd... smh.

Damn, never saw them either.  I'd posit they may be a top 10 band all-time.

Yeah.. pretty much. Old, saggy, beat up.. and yet thought that it was a good idea to layer the makeup on, wear skin-tight leather, and not wash their hair (so they could have a rat's nest like Robert Smith). And there were idiots who spent the entire show in line for merchandise...

Oh man, thats sounds terrible.

They say Robert is a pretty normal dude.  Married to the same lady for over 30 years.

I get to the Tennessee Miller Coliseum for shows/competitions once in a while.

I got a buddy that lives about halfway between Murfreesboro and Lebanon so I pass through there from time to time. That area has grown a lot in last 15-20 years.

The last time I have actually been in the Miller arena was to see the rodeo back in the early 2000's, when it first opened. Back then it was out in the middle of nowhere. Now, not so much. Lol

That's for sure.
Where I live now has been the same way. Used to be horse tracks and stables. People would ride my roads but they can't do that anymore. The two nearest tracks were sold off and one is all $750K houses. One of my breakfast buddies is stinking rich because his dad sold off the farm. Same kind of houses; no more farm. Maybe even more expensive... I don't know.
There's more being built all over.

I thought maybe moving into Tennessee might be better. Cheaper? No. Milder winters is about it.
I'd to give up what I have just for milder winters. Maybe Montana IS the way...
