Biden visiting a picket line is likely a first for any president.

Jeremi Suri, a presidential historian and professor at University of Texas at Austin, said he doesn’t believe any president has ever visited a picket line during a strike.

———

The summer of 1974 I used my grandmother’s influence as the most famous humorous writer in the Ozarks to land one of two spots Richard Nixon had made possible for summer seasonal teenage workers.

Instead of $2 an hour, the Marina could work us 80 hours a week at $1.25 an hour, no overtime, and not any more hours.

$100 a week then would be about like $600 a week today. I’m sitting here looking at a Queen Steel Folding Hunter $25 knife I bought that summer that I had to work 20 hours for, and the same knife is sold today for $25 only made in China.

One Saturday I was putting a motor on a rental boat for a customer and the marina manager Ivan walked out on the dock and nailed up a sign that read:

PLEASE DO NOT TIP THE DOCK BOYS

The customer walked up and saw the sign and said

Hey, Ivan, you old bastard. Why don’t you **** with me and my union brothers instead of that boy over there working his *** off for you?

Ivan started to say how much we earned and the customer said you pay those kids almost nothing and they can’t say anything when you do **** like put up a sign we shouldn’t tip them.

I knew I was going to loose my job, any second.

But I watched Ivan, take down the sign.

The Teamster got in the boat and said you tell me if that old bastard gives you any **** after I leave.

I still have his card somewhere, among my souvenirs.

He was the President of the local Teamster’s Union my second cousin is president of today.

God damn go to Detroit Joe Biden!

It’s past time a President walked with the unions.

This is why I voted for that old man and will again.

I’ve watched the news every day since I was five years old when Bobby Bare first sang Detroit City and I cannot remember any President walking a picket line.

Go get ‘em Joe.

He’s on our side.

He wasn't president, he was VP running for the president, Al Gore joined the engineers in the SPEA union at Boeing when we went on strike in 2000.

He walked that picket line with the rest of us one afternoon.

China is falling apart. Their economy is falling apart. The real estate industry in China has collapsed.

China isn't going to rule anything for the next 100 years. All they are going to be doing is cleaning up the mess they have on their hands now.

The Index owner who hired my grandmother who sometime in 1915 hired an almost six feet tall 18 year old girl had no idea that girl would start a weekly column  that would make that paper the largest circulation of any  one press small town  newspaper on the planet earth.

And except for her 1963 book which was financed by the producers and directors of the Beverley Hillbillies to settle a threatened copyright infringement lawsuit every word she ever wrote was as an employee of The Index and the paper got all the revenue.

I lived long enough to ask her why she didn’t syndicate her column like Al Cap and Lil’l Abner.

She said the owners wanted to, but she enjoyed being driven everyplace by The Index and counting the weekly circulation herself.

To this day when you read her columns you can’t tell if she really hated “that damned old Roosevelt” or was sneaking liberal satire past the arch conservative owner who would all be Trumpy  if he was  alive today.

I believe she was a closet liberal, but cannot prove it.

I really don't think it's a good idea Biden walks the picket line ..

You forget the misery brought to many Americans because of his politics...
Americans are paying more...
Making less...
Interest rates over 7
Gas prices up..
Inflation..
Whenever before Biden, on the rare occasions Presidents interfered in strikes it has been to order an end to the strike.

The makers of Jap cars and Kraut wagons are cheering Biden taking up sides against the Big Three.

But in Michigan some kid whose mother is his sole support working on the auto lines is begging her for a chance to meet the President.

There are photographers checking out equipment.

Uncle Joe is shuffling to Detroit City.

It’s way past time a President did this.

The onshoring of battery manufacturing for EVs started as a trickle during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now it’s a tsunami.

In 2019, just two battery factories were operating in the United States with another two under construction. Today there are about 30 battery factories either planned, under construction or operational in the country.

U.S. president Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law August 16, 2022, might not have been the initial catalyst behind the onshoring battery factory trend. But it did help open the spigot and accelerate the pace of factory projects — not to mention sparking a climate tech arms race with the EU. One year later, we’re here to make sense of it.

China long controlled the supply and manufacture of lithium-ion batteries. The country’s grip on that supply chain began to loosen after automakers, hesitant to repeat the chip shortage crisis that hampered manufacturing during the pandemic, began promising to build EVs and batteries closer to home in 2021.

What has followed is a wave of automakers and battery makers — foreign and domestic — pledging to produce North American–made batteries before 2030. See each automaker’s plans here.

There is no way those Republicans are going to stop that.

Americans are going to build 16 million electric vehicles a year, right here at home.

Building them and selling them are two entirely different things el Brucey.

Ford is taking an *** whooping in the EV market right now because of oversupply in the inventory and no buyers.

Couple that with the UAW strangling them on the other end, and the American icon that is Ford Motor Co. may not survive... without a Government bailout (buyout) that is. Then we will have State controlled auto manufacturers, just like in China and Russia.

Robert Joseph Bare Sr. (born April 7, 1935) is an American country singer and songwriter, best known for the songs "Marie Laveau", "Detroit City" and "500 Miles Away from Home".[2] He is the father of Bobby Bare Jr., also a musician.

You can’t listen to classic country radio today for an afternoon the DJ won’t spin Detroit City.

Bare followed Detroit City up with 500 Hundred Miles Away From Home

The security will be a nightmare, but may God bless and protect Joe Biden, an 80 year old man waking a UAW picket line in Detroit City.

A man who still owns the brand new 1967 Corvette his old Daddy gave him for a wedding present is one of my kind of people.

I’ve never been poor one day of all my life, but after my father died when I was 13 the issue was in doubt, for awhile.

After Mama decided we were not bound for the poor house after all, she wrote a check for a brand new 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass made in Detroit.

God damn those bastards that hate Joe Biden.
I dig Bobby Bare! Around 1968 I met a white guy who escaped Detoilet City after the *** almost burned it to the ground! He had it made there until the riots.

There are more of us, than there are of them.

We didn’t guzzle light beer to begin with.

We don’t call a decent old man a pedophile.

We get our shots, send our kids to school and we love America no matter who wins an election, which we abide the results.

And our cars are made by Detroit union auto workers.

We’ve loved Bobby Bare forever.
