I would go so far as to say that WWII in Europe occurred on the steppes - with some skirmishes in the med and on the atlantic.Sumela » 04 Oct 2023, 7:38 pm » wrote: ↑ Now that right there...thats funny![]()
As you know sir, 70% of Germans killed in WW2
were taken out by the Soviets - not USA or Europe.
Ms. Mondy has pussed out and not responded

The Asian theater was the Pacific. The European theater was German, Poland, and Russia.

Clauswitz? Saw he wrote a treatise on war. Popular after 9/11. Never read much of it though. I know what I know and I think its enough for a chat forum. No one knows everything although they are forming the AI that does in Silicon Valley as we type.Cannonpointer » 04 Oct 2023, 5:34 pm » wrote: ↑ In war, not every offensive is intended to secure the apparent target. Google "distractions," and you'll be quite amazed that these actually occur.
Some of the people who prosecute wars have read whole books on the subject.

The SteppeHow lovely those journeys into quiet!
Boundless the steppe, like a seascape,
ants rustle, and the feather-grass sighs,
mosquitoes go whining through space.
And the Milky Way slants towards Kerch,
like a path that cattle have stamped on.
Go past the houses, you’ll lose your breath,
on every side, broad, broad horizons.

Clausewitz, unless I am mistaken, wrote primarily about tank warfare. No doubt, his advice will track across domains, as wisdom is wont.Monderegal » 04 Oct 2023, 7:56 pm » wrote: ↑ Clauswitz? Yup. Flyover country. It's actually an ancient tactic. Japan had to defend them, but the US did not have to attack them. Wasted chips is what those troops were.Monderegal » 04 Oct 2023, 8:14 pm » wrote: ↑ I hear that Eisenhower deliberately left Japanese islands out of the campaign in the Pacific. They do - as the Spanish say, con razon.

I have not words so light and airy;
Ideas so sweeping? I have nary -
I must close verse - I will not tarry:
But will just confess: I hate the prairie.
They do indeed.
Pick up this book here. I found it at a used book store one time and it was really eye opening. The strategies of Alfred Hitchcock in directing his movies. The strategies of Neapolitan politically. It's worth a look. Sun Tzu is kinda a basic book for me but it was interesting,Cannonpointer » 04 Oct 2023, 8:18 pm » wrote: ↑ Clausewitz, unless I am mistaken, wrote primarily about tank warfare. I have not read him - but I have read Sun Tsu - and found it very useful in the field of marketing. As I said, wisdom tracks across domains.
I am confident that Clausewitz - and certain that Sun Tsu - advises against assuming that what you see your opponent doing (or appearing to do) reveals his true intentions.
Neither of us lives inside Putin's head. But I strongly suspect that he has taken what he wants of nazikraine. His motivation now, I suspect, is simply outlasting the retarded actions of the pedophile regime's proxies. There is no question in any sober mind that Putin is, at present, WAAAAY ahead in the game - on every **** level. Including popularity.
Putin's economy is better than it was before the war. His global political reach and reputation are improved. His alliances are improved and strengthened. He cleaned house of some elements than needed sorting out.
Meanwhile, his antagonists are pretty much ****. Germany? ****. They invested in solar (with a climate like western oregon lol), and their backstop was blown up by their puppet-masters in DC. Ukraine? ****, Then triaged, and then **** again. Laying supine, **** for the foreseeable future. The US empire? ****. The petro-dollar is being bypassed and ignored all over the globe, including for the purchase of PETRO. .
There is one and only one participant in the recent bellicosity which has come out stronger, and that is Putin. And I am ****' laffin.
Let me correct your propaganda. The parts of Russian speaking E. Ukraine that voted to return to RussiaMonderegal » 04 Oct 2023, 8:27 pm » wrote: ↑ Pick up this book here. You're right about the intentions of a lot of world leaders. Putin may just want part of Ukraine like he annexed parts of Georgia. Still, the threat of Russia going further is also real. That's just what I'm concluding but I'm not in the CIA where they would say moderate confidence.

In the entire history of The Art of War, not one person - before this - has referred to Sun Tsu as "basic."Monderegal » 04 Oct 2023, 8:27 pm » wrote: ↑ It's worth a look. Sun Tzu is kinda a basic book for me but it was interesting,
