Boise State.. the once proud program has been relegated to the lower half of the FBS. It happens. Will keep making bowl games but the days where we play power 5 teams and win most of those games are done. The difference is pretty simple. We used to get the 3-star HS prospect from the Central Valley of CA and Phoenix, AZ.. specifically Defensive Linemen. Now, those prospects are staying home and going to Fresno State, Arizona, Texas, or Kansas State. So when we do play UCLA, Washington, Oregon, etc.. their OL neutralizes our DL and they are able to keep the defense out on the field.

Teams get into bowl games with a losing record when there is not enough bowl eligible teams to fill all of the slots. Minnesota got into a bowl game this year for this exact reason.

Looks like the playoff committee was justified in picking Bama over FSU for the CFB finals

GA-63
Free Shoes University - 3

Ouch 🤕

I agreed with the decision at the time. Without Jordan Travis.. FSU had zero chance of beating Texas, Washington, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, or Michigan. As for the NCG.. I will be watching it for the first time ever. While not my Alma Mater.. it is exciting to see Washington be playing for a national title.

In case no one told you, Alabama and Georgia are out of the running.

Looking at next year, the favorites are Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, and Oklahoma State. However, with Boise state acquiring the former no. 1 recruit, Malachi Nelson, they could make the playoff. Win a national championship? Zero chance. However, making the 12 team playoff and maybe winning a first round matchup against someone like Oregon, Utah, or Texas would be exciting.

Ravens have a good chance of winning the Super Bowl.  If they do, then the Harbaugh boys will have titles in the same year.  Wonder if that has happened before.

Saban retiring.  Citing his age and how it's harder to do the things he once did.  He said if he stayed, then he'd have to give 100%.  He would ask the same of his players, but wasn't sure if he could do it at age 72.  I'll tip my hat to him for that.

You are correct. It was the 2007 Fiesta Bowl when Boise State beat Oklahoma 43-42 in a classic. That was 16 years ago and things have changed. Boise State is no longer the desired destination for the 3 star recruit from West Texas or Southern California that is good enough to be a second string ___ at USC but wants playing time and opts for the smaller school. Those kids are now staying closer to home and going to North Texas, San Diego State, Fresno State, UNLV, or Arizona.

Boise state beating Oklahoma is not the same as UCF beating Auburn.  I think that UCF had more of a case than my alma mater. Boise State's SOS was pretty bad that year.
