Question? opinions please.
Our oil company lets us freeze the price of oil for about a year.
We usually don't do this.
Can anyone possibly see oil prices going down with winter coming?
And the way the world is today?  War on energy- Low national reserves and creepy wars all over.
I doubt it?
And what do you predict oil to do?

What it always has done. Patterns of behavior are established by traditional values exceeding the lifetimes obeying the ideas. Should be an instinctive red flag, but every intellectual mind doesn't see it coming.

The oil prices will rise when people travel for the holidays of thanksgiving through new year. then 2 nd week in january there will be a national crisis when the arctic blasts arrive and put the daily temp under 32 for 6 weeks straight.

You live in the NE where fuel oil is still widely used for heating oil...I would lock in for peace of mind and just never look at prices over the coming winter... Image
It's what I do with propane, albeit locking in in July may save you more if you can....

My first thought is not to trust the oil company, why would they offer that if they expect prices to go up.. on the other hand, rog is right, locking in the price would give you peace of mind and the oil company can't know for sure what will happen to the price... our energy company made the same offer two years ago, before the Ukraine crap and energy crisis started, I wish I had taken that offer then..

Cyndi.  Here's what you need to do.
  • Buy another wood stove
  • set up a still in your back yard and make ethanol from rotten apples.
  • Eat more bacon - and make bio diesel from the fat rendering.

I WOULD say oil will go down in winter when hell freezes over - but that would only drive it up further.

Only as long as reality lasts. People change their mind and go back to instinctively navigating time as displaced all bets are off. Life evens out from the corruption lasted last 6,000 years.

We should have taken steps to ensure we never bought another barrel of Oil from overseas after OPEC brought us to our knees under Carter....  Who can forget those days when you were designated to buy Gas on odd or even days, rampant siphoning ----- and Enviro celebrities such as John Denver and others sinking 500 gallon fuel tanks into Mother Earth on their properties to make sure they hoarded the lion's share of the fuel supply....

cindi: this old man lives in the state of wa. we have  lots of competition  for heat. cheapest is electric. which you own part of as an usa citizen. yes! Bonneville power is owned by all the people. but we screw you. up and down the Columbia river usa  has federal electric power dams.  we should be paying more. and the federal government should be using the increased cash flow for investments in low cost natural gas, from Canada, for the people in Maine. why have an united union if we can not help each other. competition is good. i realize your thing in the senate is only interested in war profits. shame. maybe the people in the northwest could put pressure on the federal government to do something.

I saw a headline earlier that oil prices might go down. I won't hold my breath for long.

want $1.19 a gal heating oil? have your state buy oil tankers. pick up surplus heating oil in Venezuela. they got the stuff over flowing on the land. then watch your senator scream!!!!!!!!! far out? ha. your federal government invest in hydro, nuclear, wind, solar and all kinds of energy programs. so. the people of Maine must buy oil tankers, and search the world for the lowest price. that is called competition.

stop hyper inflation. by having your state invest in programs that reduce the cost of living for labor. monopolies are now screwing the system. they gave you short term low prices. now comes profit time. labor getting poor. buffet getting richer.
