I've looked at the federal budget.  You wouldn't believe how much waste is in there.  You may think you know just how wasteful our government is, but you have no clue.  I have an extremely hard time even wrapping my head around it.  But, I will say this.  Medicare and the Military are still the two biggest bloated pieces of **** weighing our country down right now.  Yes, all of this other crap should be eliminated, but altogether they don't even make up 25% of the pie.

My mom was a civilian contract administrator for the Air Force for years. The stories she use to tell us we're crazy.

She told me once about spending $350K to replace an 8x8 security shack at a gate that wasn't even in use on the base she worked at.

The city had redone a road outside of this particular gate and there was no longer access to the gate itself from the civilian side, so it was blocked off... and the Govt STILL spent $350k to replace a security shack that no one was ever going to use again. Brilliant huh?

This was in the 80's too so now that same shack would probably be several million... and **** like this still goes on today.

Need to read your Bible. Jews are still God's chosen, still the holders of the covenant. That unmerited grace has been expanded to all who accept the sacrifice of Christ. The new testament doesn't replace the old, it fulfills it.

I can't say I'm particularly enamoured with either side. Israel is in the position at the moment, where there isn't an acceptable response they can make to the events of the 7th - but equally, they can't do nothing either. The details are debatable, but there's no denying the nature of what took place; which did nothing but target civilians in the most brutal way imaginable. Due to the population density of Gaza, it's impossible for Israel to target Hamas and not get civilians as well. There is a distinct moral difference between those two attack strategies - but apparently the court of public opinion doesn't care about these issues, it just wants Israel strung-up for every misstep.

Is there anything Israel can do that would be acceptable to the Palestinians and their supporters, other than self-immolation? It doesn't appear so, so what is Israel to do with such aggression, other than to meet it equally?

Israel is definitely justified in returning the aggression.  What my issue is that most Israel supporters seem to think that Israel is not as equally bad as the other barbarians in that region. A lot of this they brought on themselves. They do oppress the Palestians, they have a long time.
