Gaza is small.  It is 25 miles long by at most 7 miles wide.  In order to lead an effective ground invasion, Israel would need to do the following:

• First, establish air superiority.  Israel will need to have helicopter support without the likelihood of helicopters being taken out by rockets.  This is accomplished by doing what it is doing now, bombing the crap out of places where rockets can be launched.
• Second, fly a tight-pastern sortie of F16's and F35's taking out suspected rocket sites
• Next, release Hamas prisoners being held inside Israel - dress them in Israeli military clothing so that they can go "join their brothers" in jihad.-They will be escorted by Special Ops teams a few yards behind them. Of course, each of these jihadists will be wearing suicide vests which can be detonated remotely.
• Next, have send in infantry with helicopter air-support - take and secure Gaza hectare by hectare on a grid.
• Use land mines and remotely triggered IED's around each hectare secured. Install monitoring systems, and load each hectare up with decoys to draw out any hidden enemies.
• Use seismic instruments to detect tunnels. Use bunker buster bombs to destroy tunnels.
• Wack any moles as they come out of their tunnels.  Seal any entrances to tunnels with explosives and poison gas to prevent people from escaping them.
• Take no prisoners.  Execute all combatants
• Cut off all supplies, communication, water, access to food storage and livestock.
• Civilians will be placed in locked cages until all combatants have been dispatched.

Don't worry they know what they are doing...more so since they are tearing the place up.

I had a friend who was Infantry in Iraq, and he did house to house fighting in bombed out buildings and he said it was a real pain in balls.  He went on for a little bit.  He went in a bar and the bartender wouldn't sell beer because of some stupid reason,  So he pulled a gun and said well how about if I just take,..which he did.  The copper arrested him walked down the main drag...guzzling them.

Do they?  They didn't do a very good job of combating Hezbollah to the north some years ago.  They screwed the pooch on that one. All of southern Lebanon should have been taken by Israel as the spoils of war, but they got their asses handed to them.

I have my doubts whether they will, but I am quite interested in seeing what tactics use if they actually go in "full force".

Hamas is well armed with anti-tank weapons and they know the place well.

I'm not arguing with you, here, Sumela.  I tend to think the same.  Israel's apprehension either shows weakness or strategic methodology.  I don't know which yet.  But, I'm willing to hold my tongue to see how this unfolds.

Strategically, makes more sense to just keep bombing.  Operations inside Gaza are to the advantage of Hamas.
Just sit back - Hamas isnt going anywhere.

Just like the recent failed Uke counter offensive.  Russia spent 8 mos building intricate defense lines.
Uke just kept throwing men/machines at it over and over....
why would Russia do anything other than rain down hell. 
Result: 70K dead Ukes, lost most of the Leopards and Bradleys.  In 4 mos.

I just read one article and the JOOOs didn't get thier asses kick but they didn't do as well as they should have.

Would not A 10 warthogs do better than f16's and f 35's supporting ground troops. They are as effective as helicopters, There are also those ac-130's.

Plus I would imagine those tunnels are under streets, so bucker busters could be used to collapse most tunnels which can be detected by sonic detection device technology to map them out before air strikes.

So the situation was folded into position before starting. Sounds a little predetermined/manifested destiny. Only way that occurs is rule of law typecasting people into ancestral role playing current events on the world stage.

Not in an initial low-altitude precision bombing campaign.   Also, to my knowledge, Israelies don't have Warthogs.

Supporting ground troops is there only mission.

I saw a couple in Korea and they could turn on a dime and they were hugging the ground.

They were so low it was like you could reach up and touch them.

In Vietnam they had smaller ones for ground support...they would follow the Warthogs and mop up.

Here's the deal.  Israelis have already been stealthily running surveillance operations.  When the enemy hides in tunnels, history has shown that if you want to win the war, you need find the tunnels and snuff them out.

Are not sewers, tunnels? are not storm drains tunnels? are not utility tunnels delivering what society needs to work in urban sprawl already designed in a urban design foundation out.

Anything can be used beyond its original intent. A shovel can become a deadly weapon. Reasonable doubt can become evil tyranny as easy as convicting the innocent falsely accused as protecting the guilty as charged.

Subway mass transit system can be used against society as easy as for a society.

Do some research.  The tunnels constructed by Hamas were purpose-built as underground bunkers connected by a series of reinforced-concrete tunnels.  They are BUNKERS.  Bunkers which are hidden under civilian-occupied dwelling structures. The Palestinians engineered and constructed much of Gaza on top of per-constructed bunkers.

They aren't on the list to get the "memo" when Israel goes in.  In fact, Israelis have already been running ops inside of Gaza.  They've been doing so since October 13.  So, where are your Iranian Devils?  LOL - they don't want their precious mall to be rocketed this Sunday.
