Your title prompted me to consider the question from a dense lay-person's angle.
I thought about how much does it matter if it has no real influence on my life? But is that actually so?
What would constitute either having any noticeable effect on my well-being?

On second thought, what if your question had used the word "dangerous" instead? There is a difference.
In the end, I think it depends on how deep down the rabbit you get but only to find . . . both.

Hate is what indiscriminately kills 10,000+ Palestinians and wound's 30,000+ while vowing to destroy all Hamas infrastructure for example 500+ km's of tunnels that are beneath most of Gaza.
and the only  way to do this is to level all buildings above those tunnels  in Gaza ....
Turning Gaza into a pile of Rubble the can no longer be lived in by innocent Palestinians ....
forcing the population of gaza into the west bank ......and losing their right of return ....
