I'll say a couple of things about this:

• It disturbs me that the woman was giving drugs and alcohol to the kid - that bothers me much more than the sex - so, I'm going to leave this out of my analysis.
• I would have done just about anything to have sex with that woman when I was 14........and that's the problem.
• As a father, if I had a 14 year old boy who became sexually obsessed with an adult woman, a teacher, that would be a real problem for me.  It would be difficult enough if I found out my 14 year old was having sex with a girl his own age.
• This could derail a boy's aspirations for sports, friendships with other 14 year olds, grades even goals for higher education.

There are lots of things that "feel good", but can have severe consequences when a 14 year old boy pursues it.  I know that, as a 14 year old, if I had a woman willing to give me all the ****** I could handle, I would have done nothing else.  Fifteen year later, I would awaken out of my sexcapade, and go "WTF, I F-ed my entire life away!"

Some of the people at this board had teen age grand mothers...some might have had teen mothers too.
There wasn't anything sick or perverted or criminal about it.
It was fairly common.
With teachers the standard has to be set so that teachers lose their jobs no matter what.
In most cases that would be enough of a deterrent.
I think if the child is able to stand up in defense of the teacher,  the Judge / Jury  should show leniency towards the teacher.
The Mary K Letourneau case proves my point.

When your son turns 14, he loses interest in baseball.  Skips practices.  Sneaks out.  Claims to be hanging out with friends.  Basically turning into a completely detached F-up.  Six months later you find out he's been spending every chance he can get having sex with his teacher.  She gets pregnant.  And, when he turns 18, she sues him for child support.   No college.  No baseball.  Dropped out of high school.  Working at Walmart stocking shelves paying for Teacher Tina's little bastard child.

I grew up and played ball with quite a few kids who were drafted by MLB teams and signed pro contracts.
A few others played college ball.
I played ball at the Post / Division level for the Army..[about the same as college ball]
None of us that I know of were lucky enough to have affairs with our teachers but I doubt very many of us would have let an affair with a teacher make us give up the dream of making it to The Show.   .
