I only got my hands on duck eggs this year, as an adult. I ate them as a kid - my grandmother raised ducks.
I would pay twice for duck eggs what I pay for chicken - but chicken eggs rule the market, so when I find duck eggs, they're not much more expensive than chickens eggs.

We have a local farmer's market that is covered up with Amish farmers, and several of them deal in duck eggs. They tend to run around a 75¢ to $1 an egg when they have them which is understandable considering the demand locally. Huh. I hadn't thought to make an amish connection. Thanks for that - I've got an amish store about a half hour from my house. We have a pretty large Amish community just south of here. We make a trip down a couple of times a year and pick up a few things. There is one shop that has pickled quail eggs that are to die for. My wife hates when I get them because I'll eat half a jar in one sitting and the noxious fumes produced on the other end are rather abusive to the senses. They are so good though.

Duck eggs... amazing. While not every year.. Dad would go duck hunting in the spring in Carey, ID. Those eggs were highly prized by him and at first.. I was like whatever. After having a few, I was converted.
