They are not "useless."

They make excellent practice dummies for boys' jr. high school teams.

Nevada should be like Arizona. But sadly, they are turning into California. The are getting woker and more Liberal everyday. It's a shame. They should be the wild west.

I am not so sure it is a matter of being woke. LV has appeal due to lack of a state income tax and it is a bit of a blank slate. Meaning that there is no tradition or other teams to compete with. Also, part of the pro sports equation is not that locals will consume it.. but rather tourists will come there for x and then think, "Hmm.. there is this other pro sports option that we can add on to our trip with"

I am as big of a sports fan as most people will ever encounter but woman's sports... zzzzzzz, Huh, what was that?

And if you have ever been to the state.. you would know that outside of LV.. it pretty much is. Come to Winnemucca, Elko, Austin, or Yerington and tell me with a straight face how woke it is..

I am in Nevada a lot. I agree. Take away Vegas and Reno and the state is Conservative. Same with Arizona, take away Phoenix and the rest of the state is Trump country.

If you take Clark County out of the equation, NV would be a very red state. Washoe County (Reno) is blue but only slightly. Clark County accounts for 75% of the state's population. If you really want to see something unique.. visit the following two places in NV; Jarbidge (far NE corner by Idaho) and High Rock Canyon (NE of Reno about 2 hours)

We also have a pro woman's soccer team, which I never knew about. Most locals don't either. So we have 3 pro woman's sports team, and a forth one soon. Man. **** this ****.

Is there enough of a local population to support a team....or would the stands be full of tourists...?

We have about 2.5 million. Our town tailors toward the tourists and high rollers. The casinos take the high rollers to these games.

I heard that too. Yes, Vegas is cleaning Oakland out. I don't know how that helps us since both teams are useless.

I am not sure how that works. Vegas has ways of breaking the rules.

Bingo.. the assumption behind bringing the pro sports teams is that tourists will come either with the pro sports as the primary destination or as a complimentary item. Complimentary would be where you came to Vegas for a concert but while you are there... why not go see a xyz pro sports event. The funding approved by our governor for bringing the Oakland A's explicitly has this written in.

Just checked and the Las Vegas Aces have the highest average stadium attendance of any WNBA team at nearly 10,000 per game:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/123 ... ttendance/

Obviously, 10,000 fans knew about the team.

And the Vegas Lights soccer team have an average attendance of almost 6,000 per game.

Just because you didn't know about these teams doesn't mean other people don't know about them.

1. 10k still sucks.
2. We don't know who those 10k are from. Tourist make up a lot of our town's participation.
3. 6k also sucks

Our population is 2.5 million and you are throwing out these numbers ^^^? You have proven my point.

Imagine all the Californians who would be jamming the little highway that feeds into Vegas via Bakersfield.
That's a very fun road to take if there's no other cars on it....but it's a nightmare otherwise.

Women’s volleyball has long been a popular sport in the United States. It has grown in popularity over the years due to its fast-paced and exciting nature, its focus on teamwork, and the impressive skills and athleticism of the players. It is also the second-most watched sport on television, behind only football.

Well they know how to do their homework so the feasibility looks good on paper.
Lots of wealthy retirees down there.
I'd love to live anywhere in the high country near hwy 405. A person could spend a lifetime exploring  all the parks, dry lakes, caves, ghost towns, etc.

Asking for Squatchman.

You could just measure how far back the bulge in @Squatchman  's cheek.

So What.

The franchises, and city, make money from tourists.

They are successful franchises.
