Strangely enough.. never been on that stretch. Been to every corner of Nevada and 99% of CA... just not that one.

It's been 20 years since I drove it. I drove the entire length of 395 from Washington to Bakersfield in December. What an epic journey on snow packed roads much of the way down. 405 has more twists and turns than straight aways.
The route from Bakersfield into Vegas takes you past Lake Isabella which an absolute  "oasis" that must have saved lots of lives back in the pioneer days

It would be interesting to see the route that you took  on a map. I know the northern 1/3 of CA extremely well.

Do a google map search of Lake Isabella.
The problem with this "back road" route is you have to do so much zig zagging to get from point a to point z.

You haven't figured out the reason for bringing in all those teams.  It isn't for the local yokels.  The locals just buy a ticket, and then go home.

LOL @ you, Pastafarian.  You're the one who hasn't figured out the reason.  Those teams are loss leaders.  Just like sale items that bring you in the grocery store.  

The WNBA commissioner all but acknowledged in an interview a couple of years ago that her league loses money.  At least the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, actually said the WNBA loses money.

I once went to a WNBA game.  The only reason I went was because I wanted to visit Madison Square Garden.

If you combine tourists with Las Vegas perm residents, then there are over 5 million people in that city on about any given month.  If you estimate that 2.5% of the population is homosexual (like yourself), then that means there are 100k+ homos in that city any given month.  

Each WNBA home team plays a little over one home game a week in the summer.  The Vegas team had 10k attendance this year.  It's not unreasonable to think that 1/20 homos (like yourself) visit a weekly game.  The rest of the crowd is lib cucks and families/schools dragging their little school girls to the games--in the perverse deception that being in this industry is somehow a viable career option.    

The WNBA game I went to at the Garden was a joke.  There were so many women in the stands that the cheering sounded like lowly high school game.  The rest--inside and outside--was little more than a homosexual fest.  Factor in the Vegas debauchery and there's your "big" crowd.

Been to Lake Isabella once but we went south and not east. My typical Southern Cal journey involves going southbound from Mammoth Lakes to Riverside and then to San Diego area. Still.. if you like ghost towns, Nevada is the state for you. 

PS. looked at your route on the map.. will have to check it out in April

We are gradually getting professional sports teams here, which is great. We got the Vegas Knights that won Stanley Cup. We got the Raiders who suck ***, but that's okay. We still have an NFL team. They may be getting a pro women's volleyball team, but there is the relocation of the Oakland A's. They will play in Oakland through next season while a stadium is being built and they move to Las Vegas.

The WNBA (Womens National Basketball Association) team is call the Aces.  They average 9,500 per game. They are owned by Mark Davis (majority owner who also owns the Raiders) and Tom Brady (minority owner).  Believe it or not, they do a decent job with attendance.  They play in the Michelob ULTRA Arena (Mandalay Bay) which has a capacity of 12,000...so they usually have it 79% full.  Yes...they have won the last two WNBA titles. If you are looking for high skilled basketball...the WNBA is not your game.  They are very good, but for obvious reasons don't have the skill set of NBA players.  However, the games are competitive and, if you're a basketball junkie, you would probably enjoy a game.  The league doesn't make much money (no longer subsidized by the NBA) and attendance will always be relatively low. There is no way they could compete from an attendance standpoint during traditional basketball season.  That is one the reason they play during the "off season"...the other is most of their players play overseas during the traditional season months where they can make significantly more money. The average for WNBA player is just over $100k...players can make up to $500k overseas.

What does that have to do with anything? The numbers are still low. Do you understand that? It doesn't matter who attends or who doesn't. Be it tourists, locals, foreign dignitaries, aliens from outer space.  The numbers are low. Most people don't care.

Those are still low numbers. The point is that Vegas has more female pro teams than male ones. That sounds like wokism to me. Female teams will never bring in the same amount of revenue as male teams. So why is Vegas seeking them out?

My guess is that it has to do with quantity of pro teams and not quality. It is something that you can put on a marketing brochure. Also, with pro teams flying into LV comes increased airport traffic, more hotel rooms, more food sales, and then the tax revenue that you get from that. There has been a movement away from having gaming be the primary revenue source.

Not up much on Las Vegas pro sports are you?

Las Vegas Raiders - NFL (men)
Vegas Golden Knights - NHL (men)
Las Vegas Lights - Soccer (men)
Las Vegas Aces - WNBA (women)
Las Vegas Aviators - Baseball (AA) affiliate of the Oakland A's (men) - they may have to relocate when the MLB club moves
Las Vegas Desert Dogs - Lacrosse (men)

So...if the women pro volleyball is real, that will make 2 female franchises and (after the A's move) either 5 or 6 male franchises.
