Props on caring enough about your world to read seminal works. If you found a better translation of Mein Kampf than I was able to find, good on ya. I never could get a translation that was readable. I mean, I READ it. But my experience of it sucked. I genuinely suspected that the translator deliberately did a **** job (he was jewish). If not, Hitler was melville all over again.
 

I probably read the same edition as you. It was turgid and redundant. But I was struck by the ideas Hitler put forth. This was written when he was briefly in prison following the aborted coup "The Beer Hall Putsch", around 1923. He said plainly what he was going to do if he gained power. How could people not see what was coming?

And don't diss Melville. His novel "The Confidence Man" is one of my favorite works of fiction.

What makes you believe they didn't?

It's not like he said he was going to kill them. You don't think the German people had a right to want a country for themselves, without a bunch of folks who refused to assimilate, and who worked together against the interests of their nation?

You're saying that 3/4 of a percent of the population produced 30% of the LAWYERS, and I am guessing that you think this is some kind of DEFENSE of that 3/4%?

Am I correct in guessing that?

No, quite the opposite. They had an undue influence on the nation. You can't blame them for wanting to be successful though.

And neither can you blame the German people for wanting to get this non-assimilating sucker off their teat. Voting for Hitler was a pretty smart thing to do, for anyone who wasn't prescient and didn't understand how hard their nemeses could get the entire western world to come against them.

And let's not step over the fact that law was not the ONLY field where jews were radically over-represented. Banking and porn are a couple of others, and it's hard to say which industry **** more Germans. So, yeah - Hitler was singing the tune that Weimar denizens could sing along to. 

Just look how quickly the citizenry went from walking barefoot to putting leather-to-peddle in volkswagens. Those pre-war years were miraculous, joyous years that made even the great FDR look like an economic neophyte. I mean, if you weren't jewish or a gypsy - both of which needed their **** walking papers. Those years were not so pleasant for them. Those years were comeuppance years for the non-German parasites.
