The DNC has already changed the rules to allow them to pick the nominee with no input from the voters after the convention, when Biden steps down for medical reasons, or God forbid mysteriously dies in his sleep. If I was Biden I'd start using a food taster.

They are managing millions of people. You don't startle millions of people by pulling a candidate out of thin air. You foreshadow, You give them soft strokes, let them watch the picture being roughed out and then filled in.
Everyone knows that it's not gonna be joe. Getting them READY is a serious job - and avoiding a primary while doing so makes it an even more serious job.
Don't misunderestimate the value of the gift DeSantis gave them. He DID show he was relevant - and a team player.
