Top 4 seeds get a bye... games are (seeds) 5 vs 12, 6 vs 11, 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9. this is the last year of the current 4-team playoff. The days of the champion being selected by a committee or the AP poll are gone.. for better or for worse.
As for college football being ruined.. I can buy into that a bit. The transfer portal enables players to quit whenever things are not exactly to their liking. If I was in control, I would allow for a one-time transfer where they do not sit out a year and lose eligibility.
the conference realignment has taken the regional flavor out of it. USC and Indiana in the same conference makes no sense.
as for this bowl season.. I only have two games that I will watch 1. La Bowl Boise state vs. UCLA and 2. New Mexico NMSU vs. Fresno State. I think that Boise State wins in a close one.. 31-28. UCLA's defensive front is the best that Boise state has seen all year. As for NMSU, most college football fans have no idea how difficult it is to have a winning team here. 10-4 at NMSU is easily twice as difficult as 10-4 at Illinois or LSU.

As for FSU being left out.. you can thank TCU and Hawaii. Both played Georgia in big time bowl games in the past and were destroyed. It is a TV product and FSU on their third string QB would be 17 to 21 point underdog against Alabama or Michigan.
