I couldn't drink a 12 pack of water.  Can't even imagine something carbonated with alcohol in it.

Man, I am a lucky guy not to have ever had to live with an alcoholic. I really mean that.

His alcoholic days were over by the time I was 2 years old. I lived with one in my 20's. Never met someone who could out-drink this guy. Not exactly a badge of honor, I know. He is 42 now and even after having quit drinking in the last year.. he looks all shriveled up and old. His friday ritual was 3 tall cans of steel reserve (yes, feel free to gag) followed by 8 to 10 shots of cheap vodka, and then some jagermeister/coke drinks to top off the night. Those were his garden variety nights. On his heavy drinking days, he would polish off a fifth of gin along with a 12 pack or two..

I've known a few johnny 6 packs whose daily after-work sixer was a hard won compromise with a disappointed missus.

I've known a few functional alcoholics. One I knew would drink a bottle of whisky every night - probably more, but that's what he'd admit to anyway.  I asked him how he could possibly do that without getting sick, as more than a little bit of alcohol makes me sick.  He explained that he can drink until he passes out and never get a hang over and never feel sick. According to him, alcohol in any quantity just doesn't make him sick - and never has.  He tried to explain that alcohol gets him "high", not drunk.  Hard for me to understand, but that was his claim.

I have come to believe that alcohol is metabolized differently by different people. With me, I have a fairly low tolerance to alcohol, even though I drank pretty regularly in my teens and early 20's.  I don't think I could possibly become an alcoholic, even if I tried. In fact, I could go without ever having a sip of alcohol ever again and not miss it.

Ah, jeez louise. We're back to your fantasy mandates. Care to link to one of those, fruity?

They've been at it for YEARS, stupid. They aren't backing down - they're DOUBLING down.
Well if they're "doubling down" as you claim, they're doing it with many fewer "woke" executives, nimrod!
Or aren't you aware of that?:
2 Executives Are on Leave After Bud Light Promotion With Transgender Influencer
Anheuser-Busch announced the moves after a conservative backlash over its association with the actress and social media personality Dylan Mulvaney.

And how long do you think it will take Target to change direction when they lost $10 billion in 10 days after their Pride Month displays infuriated stockholders?
Their stock dropped from $263 per share in 2021 down to $135 today, a loss of almost half their value in just two years.  They quickly scrambled to move those offensive Pride displays away from the front of the store when they realized what was happening, and the execs are terrified over that public reaction.  So if they're SO unconcerned with those billions in losses they've absorbed, WHY WOULD THEY BOTHER if they didn't care about losing money as you claim?

But according to you, the executives don't care, huh?  So tell me, genius.  How much longer do you expect Target stockholders to tolerate such losses and reverse direction, after they're already nearly broke and in the process of being sued by shareholders for their "woke" agenda?:
Target sued by shareholder for ‘misleading’ investors on risks of woke ESG, diversity mandates
FORT MYERS, Florida (LifeSiteNews) — Retail company Target misled investors about the harmful effects of its implementation of “Environmental, Social and Governance” (ESG) standards and “diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), according to a federal lawsuit.Aug 14, 2023
A lawsuit alleges that Target embraced the radical transgender agenda with its children-and-family-themed 'Pride' marketing and sales campaign that caused more than a $12 billion collapse in share value.
Time for you to wake up and recognize that profits and losses are the first, second, and third concerns of a business, and the responsibility to maintain profits is all that keeps the CEO and other execs secure in their jobs!

And here's that link you demanded from the Biden policy mandates:
Biden Admin’s Woke, Wasteful Infrastructure Add-Ons Inflate Costs
The Daily Signal by David Ditch  / December 05, 2023
In theory, these rules are supposed to be based on what Congress passed into law. However, the Biden administration has repeatedly inserted its own highly ideological objectives into these notices, bypassing Congress and steering policy far to the left.

Regrettably, the Biden administration is going out of its way to make government projects and programs as inefficient as possible by tacking on a laundry list of woke mandates
https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/12/05/ ... ate-costs/
Go read the link, moron, and you'll see the government mandates Biden has imposed, just like his idiot mentor Obama did with Obamacare.

Seems your never happy until I rub your nose in it, as I've done repeatedly with your lies and ****, huh?

I will agree that some metabolize it differently. When I do drink.. I drink quite slowly. A 22 oz. bottle of good stuff will take me 60 to 75 minutes to consume. The first telltale sign that I have went over is that I get heartburn. My friend/roommate would tell me about how it did not leave him fulling full Six 12 oz. beers in one hour would leave me very bloated.

The key to not getting bloated from beer is to pour it in a glass where a pretty good head forms, and wait for it to die down before drinking. This is especially true with domestic lagers and even IPAs that have a ton of carbonation.

good to know. In other news, recently noticed a brewery from Nashville, Jackalope brewing, on the shelves at Total Wine in Reno. Was in a bit of a rush but next time going to try it out.

Good to hear a local is reaching that far west. It seems like I had one of the pale ales a while back but I haven't really explored the brand too much myself. I'm still hooked on the Little Harpeth Brewing Co when I go to grab a local.

Their first brew house was right across the street from where I used to work and the taproom opened every afternoon at 2. Now they have moved into a much bigger facility across town.

https://www.littleharpeth.com/our-beers

The Chicken Scratch is my favorite from them, but everything they brew is good.

There's always been regional Beers.... Lots of Beers we grew up with that few from out of the State ever heard of...
I do remember when we started seeing what were termed Micro-Brewery Craft Beers... Most seemed to be coming from the West Coast ---  I recall Anchor Brewery was a pioneer...

But my own opinion was the Beer that really blew the doors open for a smaller producer to share Tap space with the big guys was Sam Adams Boston Lager.... I was still in the Bar business at the time, and remember some hesitation at offering what was promoted as a Premium  American Beer, at the price of the imports we sold... I think a lot of folks in the Biz were surprised how well the Brand was embraced and took off..
