I always liked that picture of Vanna White.

like most things.. we give celebrities such as athletes, actors, musicians, and mouth pieces far too much credit. Yes, what they do is often amazing. Try playing the drums to Tool -Lateralus or the bass guitar on Red Hot Chili Peppers - Right on Time. It looks easy but is not. That being said.. for wide spread social impact.. they get way too much credit.

No **** Band or Musicians at all ---- just a couple guys spinning records to Battle-Apes barking nonsense onstage & flashing Gang Signs.. You're probably more likely to be jumped or shot at a Hip-Hop show than having a good time.. 

         But yes, even the Pop acts and quite a few other acts (including some major ones) play along with backing Tracks, pre-programmed music with many even lip-syncing.... It's really little more than Karaoke at this point... I remember the days when you went to a concert, and actually got a LIVE performance --- complete with all its imperfections, mistakes or technical issues... You weren't expecting it to sound indistinguishable from the Record, nor did I want it to. 

               I mentioned in a previous post that I didn't know any of Taylor Swift's songs.... That said, I did catch a Vid of her one time when she was doing a few songs with her own Band & Def Leppard --- who she was a big fan of...

              I saw Def Leppard twice ... The first time when there were 10 arms in the Band ---- the 2nd when there was only 9.

her popularity and income are not tied to her politics. The politics is mostly a separate beast altogether. Read rockonomics by Alan Krueger. It lays out what her and other relatively new artists do to increase their income. The old business model of relying on physical album sales is of the past.
