Well, then by your own argument, Israel should have had zero problems at all annexing such a postage stamp sized piece of ground.... Hamas has made Gaza unlivable... That Blockaide was put in place in 2007 by Israel AND EGYPT after Hamas took power, to stop the flow of War materials flowing into the hands of Hamas.. Perhaps had they used that international aid to build more infrastructure to benefit their civilian population, their lives would be better... You also neglect to mention any interest by foreign investment also stopped on a Dime after Hamas took over.

Any moves by Israel to support a division within the Palestinian leadership, in the belief they would get a better negotiating partner for peace  proved a great tactical error... The Israelis already knew the corrupt rancid organization they were getting with Arafat's PLO/Fatah... Hamas initially ran on a platform of humanitarian tailored aims to help the Gazan people --- which in the beginning they did, but that changed quickly when their militant wing of the organization began to dominate Hamas..... Read the Book Son of Hamas by Mosab Hassan Yousef... He gives the most clear explanation of this transition...
