I have not said one word about our highays. Bill Clinton - whom I despise - passed highway traffic safety bills that were magnificent statecraft. Auto manufacturers were putting in seat belts long before gov even discussed it. GM did the first crash test in the 1930s, long before NHTSA. Tucker put in the first padded dashboard right after world war 2. This was a generation before government mandated it. Saab made a safety cage around the same time. And on and on.

That does nothing to refute that mandating these things has saved millions of children from being orphaned, fruitcake. In the matter of highway safety, the government has done excellent work under the aegis of the commerce clause - and in every case, democrats have been the primary movers, while repukes have drug their heels.
But then, conservatives are SUPPOSED to slow the government's roll, and liberals are SUPPOSED to try to move things forard, make things better.
Now that the national parties are reversed, it's democ rats sucking wall street's dick and repukes pining for the good old days when they were flush with wall street cash.
