We have time and Harvard is not the only option. Have some money already set aside. If I had to predict, my daughter will end up in Oregon or Washington working a as a veterinarian. As for the older one, my son, he is not quite so predictable. He seems inclined towards engineering but it changes on a weekly basis. If he does end up on the engineering route, there are lots of solid options out west.

LOL - little girls tend to think they want to be Veterinarians.  That is, until they see what is actually involved.  When she gets old enough, she should volunteer at a veterinarian clinic.  Sure she'll be shoveling poop, cleaning up pee, cleaning the animal pens and seeing sick and dying animals.  If she still loves animals after that, then perhaps she has what it takes.  Or, maybe she'll get a degree in supply-side economics and go work for Bain Capital.  Only time will tell!

True. We only have one very old cat at home. She has not been exposed to the less glorious side of it yet. I would more than happy to never have another animal in my home. I always thought that my dad was just heartless and no fun when he expressed that same viewpoint.  Well....dad, you can have your "told you so" moment. Anyways, lots of solid options when it comes to higher education in nevada, idaho, montana, and utah. California...there are some good ones (not many but some) but that price tag is something else
