A rational buyer understands that it doesn't need to buy a home at any point in time. If it believes that rates are too high, and that this is due to a temporary spike, it will delay the purchase.

Since the Fed has suggested 3 rate cuts over the next year, they will probably continue to do so until they think the fed is done.
