In Jan 2000, the CBO projected the possible elimination of the Debt held by the Public within a decade.

It was 3.7 trillion at the time.

In Jan 2008, the CBO projected an aggregate Structural Deficit going out a decade in the amount of 5.8 trillion.

The Debt held by the Public had not been eliminated...it had nearly doubled.

I think Krug nailed it.

Well ****, the population in America was 231 million and it's now 333 million. We are at a 100 million more people, so of course their will be a proportionate increase.
