As you spin your tale on this at least we will have context.  If your case is is truthful you should have NO fear of doing so.  

We also know there is a difference between quoting someone verbatim and truthfully conveying the context.

If you think a context mitigates your lie, that is YOUR case to make. You shouldn't have a problem finding your own words, as you have already cherry picked subsequent ones.
