I would perchance suggest being a nurse - yes, you have to wipe Boomers’ asses and whatnot…but apparently the demand is high enough even mediocre graduates can find jobs very quickly

To draw a comparison, pretty much every white collar position requires 3+ rounds of 1 hr+ (each) interviews with the most insipid HR tyrants and inane questions by management to grill every little supposed weakness on your resume. 

And keep in mind these “grill your *** sessions” are usually done by sub-125 trash, which means you have to stow your dignity for at least a while. 

(Unless you are also sub-125 in which case it doesn’t matter)

OTOH I have heard of hospitals and AC centers + agencies hiring nurses after 1 round of a 20 min interview…because there is actually a legitimate demand / supply imbalance in favor of nurses.

What you describe is a responsibility traditionally performed by 2-3 people, now condensed to 1 person. Almost all businesses today run on skeleton crews to maximize net profit, which would explain why it’s not uncommon to wait a very long time for customer service in many restaurants / retail outlets. 

And if an engineer who did the coding / specs happens to pick up and leave, the next guy has to spend weeks to figure out what’s going on because the vast majority of businesses don’t have job training anymore. It’s been outsourced to universities that do not teach “job skills” but rather theory.

The job title is Economist but it is more programming than any kind of economic analysis. The hard and fast requirements are that the candidate has a BA or BS in Economics and have residence in NV. It is a state government job where remote work has been effectively eliminated until 2028. The primary job duties are reading in data from a variety of sources and producing something that other agencies (city, state, county, federal) can digest more easily or even something that the general public can take in. However, there are times when it is more than moving this column over there, pivoting this one, and so on. That is going to be when their lack of real life experience is going to show. People will see through their empty words.

Guess again. What are dawn and dusk? By programming I assume something like STATA or Python as Econ + Stats are distant cousins.

This seems like a job someone with 110 IQ can learn pretty easily. Even if they lack the experience it should take no longer than 4-6 weeks to train if they don’t know anything beyond Excel monkey work and upper div Econ course knowledge. 

It may seem annoying to you that candidates don’t have what you need off the grill, but that’s just how things are today with our fragmented labor markets where people jump from job to job every X years and the detached-from-reality tertiary education system. I suspect this disorder was implemented “on purpose” but then I’ll be accused of being some cunspirasee thee-or-izt.
