              They are repeating the same paraphrased short headline as the sources I mentioned..... To date there is nothing other than the allegation of "Israel attacks / bombs 600 year old Monastery"..... A couple other dubious sites claimed the Monastery was destroyed...  All we are shown is the 1 circulated Monastery photo with a plume of smoke adjacent to it and over small buildings... The Church itself to the left is untouched, nor do any of the smaller buildings appear struck by a bomb..... There are Zero reports of any casualties, and I couldn't find any photos of damage to the Monastery or other structures in the complex.... 

            Don't you think by now there would be cameras, microphones, news crews, UN Reps,  and every Anti-Israel organizations under the sun on the ground taking pictures --- witness statements -- launching investigations -- doing damage assessments --- gathering forensic evidence to identify the ordnance used by the IDF -- Christians from around the globe raising funds to repair the "destruction" as was done when the Monastery was destroyed during the Hezbollah / Israel War in 2006?... This is a world renowned historical religious site..  Odd that none of this has happened yet.

            But here is a story of a recent attack on a Greek Catholic Church in Northern Israel by Hezbollah.... The Church was targeted & hit by Anti-Tank missiles --- then Hezbollah waited until IDF and Emergency personnel arrived at the Church to assist 2 injured civilians, at which time Hezbollah fired another MIssile which wounded 9 others..  If you Google the story it is easily verified...

and Israel did destroy it in 2006 ....

So, you are trying to debunk the story based on it being destroyed and not attacked as was the case .....
which also is the reason that an attack does not merit the response by The media , UN etc......as it would be if it was destroyed .....

              There are 3 descriptions floating around describing it as: 
1. An Attack.
2. Bombed.
3. Destroyed.

              All 3 of these suggest intent --- the lack of verifiable evidence thus far of any of the 3 happening debunks the story... At this point it is just an accusation...  Even  SumelaPointer in post  #48 said there was little likelihood the story was true, and you gave him Gold Stars for saying so.....

             If that Monastery had been targeted as suggested and struck  with anything bigger than a rock, and any person on the property been injured to the point of requiring a tiny Bandaid, we'd have seen pictures of damage by now --- even if only in the local Lebanese News sources, or interviews from the Monks or any visiting witness who was there.. It would be a propaganda goldmine...

            I checked again, focusing my search on local News sources from the Deir Mimas region where the Monastery sits and is famous for Olive orchards & Oil production... I've found a few pieces of locals being concerned of Hezbollah coming into their area and firing rockets at Israel, which would make them vulnerable to Israel retaliating against those launch sites.. One local man stated they were Christians and that it wasn't their fight.. He specifically mentioned how such an exchange caused the destruction of the Monastery back in 2006...
