I understand the question wasn't posed to me, but it appears he American Academy of Family Physicians, along with several others, do; (emphasis mine)The American Academy of Family Physicians joined the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Psychiatric Association urging the president and Congress to take the following three concrete steps to address gun violence:

• Label violence caused by the use of guns as a national public health epidemic.
• Fund appropriate research as part of the federal budget.
• Establish constitutionally appropriate restrictions on the manufacturing and sale, for civilian use, of large-capacity magazines and firearms with features designed to increase their rapid and extended killing capacity.5

But it is a general linkage of gun sales to violent crime.  I mean, you do agree that in many cases gun violence involves the commission of a crime...don't you?
 

Wayne county's per capita personal income is approximately 49K while the national number is 65,471. Yes, personal income on a per capita basis has been on the rise in wayne county.. it has lagged behind that of the nation and almost every top 50 since 1980. Yes, fewer homicides but more than comparable cities on a per capita basis. This is somewhat due to lower incomes and fewer jobs.

Just because you  lack the gumption to defend yourself and your loved ones from an armed threat doesn't mean that other law abiding citizens should have to turn in their guns and give up  their basic  right to self defense with a firearm .
 
Last time I checked the number of murders with AR 15 type weapons is statistically little.
There should be no law against law abiding people from having superior firepower.
