I lived in Mexico for six years.  I became good friends with the husband/wife architectural team that designed and built my home.  I got to know many of their skilled  carpinteros and albeñiles.  Many of them told me of following the construction cycle in the US and crossing over to the north to work here when construction was booming and then, returning home when the construction boom slowed down.  American contractors will always opt for Mexican workers... they work harder, better, and longer.  And they gladly take the wages they are offered, which are double or triple what they can make back home.

I think you think you are insulting me, but I'm not understanding it.  I certainly didn't make as much money as my academy classmates who did their five and were scooped up by private industry, but I did OK, and I got to drive destroyers around the big pond, and, I got to retire at age 43 and start another whole new career.

But what does the military's pay rate have to do with topic of illegal immigration?

I never questioned it.  But most are not from Mexico.  When will they start working?

Just pointing out that you omitted a category of employers that benefit from cheap labor.

Well that would be nice if it were all architects and engineers flooding into the country, but that's not the case.

 They're all illiterate, uneducated, menial laborers with zero skill sets and a criminal record from their home country.

Well, I accept your position that the story is false, a woman wasn't stabbed, that the camp is not divided by ethnicity and country, and there is no crime in the camps as described in the story.

The MAGA crowd whines about illegal immigration but they'd **** their pants if they had to pay at the grocery store for vegetables picked by US citizens.

Agri-business, poultry processing, lawn care, the restaurant industry, general contracting, just to name a few sectors,  ALL depend on cheap immigrant labor, and the American public is addicted to the relatively cheap prices such labor allows them to be charged.

my guess is, as soon as they stand on the agreed-upon street corner in whatever town they find themselves when potential employers from construction/lawn work/roofing/poultry processing/food service industries drive by looking for folks willing to work for bare minimum wages.
