sadly, usmb's bitterness makes it impossible for me to dig up the post wherein the citation was offered.

I have lost nothing.  NO semi auto matic sports rifle was issued for combat or as an assault weapon.

Now, there was the Colt Armalite AR 15 that was automatic that was briefly issued to the military for testing shortly after Colt acquired it.  THat must be were your confusion and inability to understand comes in.
