1.  Are you talking about the Armalite Rifle AR 15, the select fire, gas operated assualt rifle?

2. Or, are you talking about the Colt AR 15 semiautomatic sports rifle, or later models called AR 15 STYLE weapons, that were never issued in the army as an assault rifle?

There are different weapons with different designs.  There were two differently designed weapons that used the AR 15 name.  I just need to know which you are talking about.  

One was a select fire weapon designed as an assault rifle and was the standard issue military assault rifle.

The other was designed as semi automatic sports rifle for both civilians and law enforcement.  It is not an assault rifle and was never issued for combat.  

That is why it is important to post what weapon you are a talking about.

And what is your personal experience firing, field stripping, cleaning and reassembling those weapons?
