Quite simple.  They couldn't get enough votes from the 3 RINO Republicans, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and John McCain, while the Democrats all voted against killing it.
So Trump did the next best thing and killed the Obamacare mandate, which was the most onerous and unconstitutional part of Obamacare, and the Supreme Court agreed.

Now, no one can force you to buy that pile of crap if you don't want it thanks to Trump, and now the stupid Democrats can't say whine about it any longer because they GOT the plan their party insisted on, even as they realize how they've been duped by Obama's lies about how they'd save $2500 a year and keep their doctors and plans if they liked them.

When I lived in the bay area, I carried some seriously high auto coverage, just because of the cars I shared the road with. When I lived in Vegas, I mostly shared the road with 30k autos, and I owned a home - so I could go cheap on auto coverage. I think my liability topped out at 35k. But that's from memory - could have been less. Definitely was not more.

Owning a house in general is just a huge drain on time and resources, regardless of what the Suze Ormans and Dave Ramseys tell you about how “owning a personal house builds wealth” (BS).

Then interest rates dropped twice - down to zero, the second time, and the local banks were charging 2.5, maybe a tad less. My mortgage dropped twice - once to the high eights and the next time to the low eights. .

And people who rent out their homes or apartments, they don't have the benefit of paying 600 bucks a year for a home warranty and having pretty much everything in the house covered against failure. They just have to swallow hard and buy stuff - all the damned time. And that risk and aggravation goes into what they charge for rent. 

So, yeah - owning is cheaper than renting. And you get tons of perks for owning a home.

The reason has nothing to do with greed from the insurance company. It has to do with the medical professionals and the pharma companies increasing their prices. They used Covid as an excuse. Which by the way, was the Dimocrats idea to make a huge issue out of. As always, you guys never think there are consequences to your policies.

Sounds like some renter who all his life dreamed of having a home of his own but never could pull the trigger.
That's fine if that's what you wanted, but you come off more as someone who's jealous of the windfall that homeowners always get when they sell.
I've owned my own homes and owned rentals for years, and while I made far less (taxable) profit on the rentals, I've always sold the houses for huge profits over the last 30 years.

Yes, a home sale can definitely fatten your pocket without the tax man taking a bite. I cannot think of another such tax deduction the working man has access to.

Under the existing laws when I sold my home, I was not even required to LIST THE INCOME on my tax return, It wasn't just tax free. It was discussion free. My CPA told me that If I had qualified for some type of rebate for poverty, the income from the sale of my home would not have made me ineligible, since under the law we were not even MENTIONING that income.

I do not dispute any of those benefits. Alas the issue I have is treating your house as an asset as opposed to an expense. If you want to treat it as an asset then you need to compare it to other assets…like gold, SP 500 ETFs, Bitcoin, and your own small business.

You say a house goes up in value. So did Bitcoin…and we know the record. I would have, had I known, gone homeless in 2015 (buy a tent and live in some inconspicuous area) and stuffed $400K in Bitcoin vs buying a $400K house in 2015.
