Consumer demand is rapidly falling and not materializing anywhere near the lofty projections drummed up by manufacturers and eco-alarmists.  So, what exactly is happening:

• Ford announced that it's cutting output of the battery-powered F-150 Lightning to make more Bronco SUVs and Ranger pickup trucks.
• The CEO of Stellantis — which owns Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep reported yesterday that the auto industry risked an EV "bloodbath" if a pricing war started by Tesla continues.
• Rental car giant Hertz said last week that it is selling off 20,000 of its electric vehicles and buy more gas-powered rentals.
• GM stopped selling its Chevy Blazer EV — a brand-new model — late last month because of charging and software problems.
• The real problem???  EVs can simply fail to run in cold weather. Charging takes much longer and driving range falls to less than 70% of the normal distance.  In extreme cold weather, the vehicles simply stop working. 

OH SNAP, GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT GOING TO SAVE THE EV INDUSTRY!!!

I have been talking about that for quite sometime.  I have a hybrid (not plug in) and love it.  It is my thirds one.  This one is the Honda Insight.  2022 model.  I get 55 MPG for the warm months which are basically  may thru October/November and from November thru may about 49-50 over a fuel run.  Part of the reason is the heater runs off the  ICE and the other has to do with the colder weather.

I have owned three since 2008.

Holy ****!  I've had the same jeep since 2007.  Well, I also have a Corvette, but most of the miles go on the Jeep.

I have a 1987 ford pickup with a plow. its kind of ruff.. But?

I drive 75 miles a day.  Put between 20-30,000 miles a year.  I drove a 2012 Honda CRz for almost 10 years.  Then got the 2022 Insight in Aug of 21.  I already have 45,000 plus miles on it.  My wife had the 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

I've got over 260K miles on the Wrangler.  Hoping it will make it to 300K. Its not without its issues, though.  I think it has a cracked manifold.  No biggie, but it throws the timing off at low revs.  Then, you need to re-start it to re-set it.  Since its a stick, while I'm moving, I just press the clutch, turn the ignition off and on and then lightly pop the clutch to get it going again.

Why? i cant plow. 
But i know a lady up the street- she plows for men.. and the guys get teased too. You have a woman plow for you? taunt ....    she has a better truck

The  plow truck is pulled back.. There's  a turn around place near it.. To pull out into the road.... Follow me here... I back my car around by the truck. I look in the mirrors...I'M LOOKIN AT IT'S HOOD.  lookin good?
 
oooo I have plenty of clearance there? right. I start pulling out- and i hear this god awful noise.
crunchhhhh.... 
oh my- I never thought of the trucks plow width on the ground!!! ha ha ha... big  gouge in the side of the car?

Sure. They also have limited resale value. Let's say you sell your EV after 8 years of ownership - the first question from the potential buyer is going to be 'have you had the battery replaced?'  And of course you haven't, because the current battery is still good, and replacement is like 10-15K. So in their head, the buyer is seeing the price you're asking plus 15K within a few years to replace the battery.

So what's your second-hand EV worth? Virtually nothing. People sold their ICE cars (that had lots of driving value left in them) and used the money to purchase an EV - but they can't sell their EV to buy a new EV, as a second-hand EV has no real value, because expected battery life is a mule-kick to the nuts of that resale model. And so the sales of EVs has dried up

This means, ultimately, next to no one can afford an EV... The iPhone purchasing model is not infinitely expandable in our lives - next to no one can afford to buy a car and throw it away a few years later, any more than they can with a house
