With arthritis in both shoulders and hands and a rotator cuff tear in my "punch throwing arm"...I can't even throw a baseball overhand 30 feet.      
I'm going in for evaluation soon to see what my options are for shoulder surgery.
The problem with surgery is how disruptive life [my very active rural life] with just one arm would be during lengthy recovery and rehab.
On the plus side I have rehabbed a hip injury and came  out stronger due to the advanced hands on training I received from the Physical Therapists.
So life is about how we respond to new challenges.

Well my Dad  had 84 combat missions in a P-47 under his belt before his 21st birthday [with 2 Bronze Stars and 11 Air Medals] 
He would be the first to tell you that the Nazis were pretty tough adversaries on all fronts.
