I would debate Gomi once in awhile.  He was pretty far left, as I recall, but never went off on me.  When I first encountered @impartialobserver  on dot-org for the first time, I thought that perhaps he could be Gomi reincarnated. Definitely not him, but his writing style seemed familiar.  As far as Catholics burning people at the stake - of course this happened!  That's how Joan of Arc was killed.  Weird that Gomi would try and argue against that.

he sad it was not the church who burned people but the government. my original statement was that the church burned people not witches, a subject i studied, they tortured people into confessing and also naming names, a phrase used by the church, the naming of names and they would say any name they could think of in their pain and that person would be accused and tortured and burned at the stake too. sometimes they did it to get property, houses and such and the church would get the property. it was awful, dreadful. just the mention of burning people at the stake sent gomi into a frenzy. I actually felt sorry for sesara because I felt he would be a bully irl.
  
I did not mention that they decided cats were evil so they burned cats, then the rat population increased and the plague happened, then it was decided that rats spread the plague.

 I  would be surprised he was an atheist the way he carried on about the catholic church.

I tried to say the church confessed but he would not listen. i forgot all about it until you mentioned gomi. he was also on another forum, I forget the name.

Lots of crazy **** happened hundreds to thousands of years ago.  The Catholic Church was essentially the de-facto Roman Empire. It was an integral part of European governments. And, they did some really evil, bizarre stuff back then, particularly during the Inquisition.   My theory (which can't be proven) is that most men of any stature or power of that era suffered from Syphilis and eventually turned insane.

Gomi was into knives and edged weapons - so I found him interesting on occasion. But, I'd agree, he was a weird dude.  So was Sesara - hardcore leftists from.....well, I wouldn't want to doxx anyone, but from mid-west communist central.
