Rationalized thinking to justify actions ignoring how life evolves uniquely here for each ancestor alive. Never tried it. I learned by 13 years old I was compulsive, so I learned to shut it off. It takes a constant awareness I am only me and no we mentality changes that.

Instead of paying the illegals, Cal said, "Get the hell off my property and OUT OF TEXAS, you illegal bastards!!!"
They left, Cal reported them to the CBP, and Cal has a beautiful new barn at a REAL BARGAIN!!!!

If an owner can't justify an expense he's forced to pay in cash to illegals, that construction could not be considered a capital improvement to his property, and if the illegals couldn't obtain the necessary legal permits to do so, it's very possible that the town could force the owner to remove the structure entirely.
Now of course, those details should have been specified before giving the work to those illegals, and if the owner had perpetrating committing this scheme in advance, then yes he is truly a despicable person. But if he only learned that he couldn't pay the bill by check AFTER the job was done, and refused to pay it if he couldn't get a valid cash receipt from the builders, then I think he's justified in what he did.
