Who's going to determine the standard? Liberals?  Who's definition of "good" and "bad" are we going to use when making comparisons to the "standard".  What method are we going to use to calculate the results?  There are multiple "inflation rates" out there, for example.

U3 took a hit when Obama began defying predictions by sending it plummeting in the wake of the Great Recession....That is when Idiots like you learned about the Labor Force Participation Rate which had, quite conveniently, been predicted to drop for years due to demographic factors....U3 came back strong, however, when Grifty Rubes were taught to respond to every criticism with "3.5!"...the echoes have faded, even from memory, as Dark Brandon goes and goes...

In short, there is an extensive list of quite reliable objective measures on which we could rely.
