Both the left and the right LOOOOVE EMPIRE. Whether **** or
just the typical political lefty or righty - Empire Worship is strong. Yeehaw, John Wayne, ya know.
Sure, there is the odd Ron Paul (right) or Jimmy Dore (left) who are anti-empire with
all its wars, chaos, death, and lies. BUT Id guess 95% are all good with Empire.
And running and policing empires are extremely expensive, which for example
leads to the Mafia stealing oil in Syria. But thats a drop in the bucket.
Get over it Empire Lovers...the Fed debt will continue to grow exponentially and be a threat to America.
But damn, look at that Empire!

Both Russia and China are in far worse shape than America is....China's waiting for Russia to fold so they can grab so Russian land and a lot of it.

Sooner or later, the hard choices have to be made.

You make a very good point. Still, I am a firm believer that in every economic scenario, no matter how drastic, there are winners and losers. Take hyper inflation riot-looting as an extreme example. Losers - city dwellers, law abiding citizens, store owners, stock/fund investors, bond holders - heck, lots of people. For example, if I and 3 neighbors own AND control 1000 acres, we can not only defend that land, but make money off of it in any number of ways. Build container-shelters for wealthy people to temporarily live in, for instance. Yeah, its going to cost them a ****-load of wealth to have a safe place where their family can have temporary shelter and eat away from chaos.
The only no-win scenario I can think of is a nuclear holocaust.
